The Leeds Lardies and Lardy Ladies teams consists of a number of Leeds Carnegie supporters and their friends and no ringers whatsoever. Honest.
The Lardies were formed in 2003 for the first Fat Blokes mens' tournament and were joined by many of their long-suffering partners and their friends who formed the Lardy Ladies for the 2007 womens' tournament.
Membership is free and open to all those who are stubborn or stupid enough to think that they can play rugby sevens (despite all the evidence to the contrary), in the name of charity.
Training is held between May and mid-June at West Park Leeds on Wednesday nights from 19:30.
The Lardies are funded by their members, in association with the Leeds Carnegie Supporters Association
The Lardies success would not be possible without the help of Leeds Rugby and West Park Leeds for the provision of their training facilities and we are very grateful for their continued support. Thanks also go to the Leeds Carnegie players and coaching staff who have been gracious enough to try and work with the unfit, fat lumps that comprise the majority of the team.
Grateful thanks also go to Kukri, without whom we would be naked. Believe me, you don't want to see that!
Last, but my no means least, thanks go to all the long-suffering families of the team. Without their tireless need to get their partners out of the house, none of this would be possible.
The pride and joy of the Lardies team is our first (some might say "only") trophy - the "shield" from the 2003 event:
